John D. Byrd, MD is currently offering comprehensive Internal Medicine care for adults in both Chipley and Graceville, Florida.

Dr. Byrd, an area native, attended Chipola College before graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition with a Minor in Chemistry from Florida State University. During his undergraduate studies, he received a Certificate in Aging Studies through the FSU Peppers Institute on Aging and Public Policy. He obtained his medical degree from Florida State University College of Medicine in 2014. While in medical school, Dr. Byrd received the FSU College of Medicine Mission Award and the Excellence in Internal Medicine Award, as well as being inducted into the Arnold P. Gold Humanism Honor Society. He completed his postgraduate specialty training in Internal Medicine at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, AL. While in residency, he received the Denzil Les Sockwell Humanitarian Award and the Victor Benator Award for Excellence in Teaching by a House Officer. Since completion of his residency in 2017, Dr. Byrd has maintained his Board Certification in Internal Medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Byrd also serves as an Assistant Professor and Clerkship Administrator for the FSU College of Medicine Rural Track Program.

Dr. Byrd’s medical interests include general and preventive internal medicine. Special interest include: non-operative management of arthritis/bursitis, joint disease, and osteoporosis; dementia, geriatrics, palliative care, COPD/Asthma, outpatient cardiology including heart failure, arrhythmias and hypertension management; diabetes and thyroid disorders.

During his spare time, Dr. Byrd enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, water skiing, and tackling theme parks.
